A Message for 2020
It has become popular to choose a word or phrase for the year, something to help give us focus on an area of our lives we want to improve. Some words I have heard are Thankful, Peace, Capable, Intentional. These are words that we adopt and make a part of our focused life with the intent to help us improve our purpose.
The Women of Hillside, in the same thought, have chosen Psalm 46:10 as our scripture of the year.
After time spent in prayer and discernment we feel God gave us Love, Connect, Serve as the purpose for our ministry. The intent being to create a group that encourages each individual to be in community with others to Love, Connect and Serve. With such a group oriented purpose, it may seem strange at first to have a scripture that is directed toward the individual, but sitting in stillness with God is our first step in becoming a community. As Dorcas said on Saturday at our breakfast, Being still with God is the fuel we need to Love, Connect and Serve each other in community. When we sit still with God, He prepares us for our day, He instructs us in the things we should do, He gives us His focused attention in order to encourage us to stay focused on Him. Because when we do, we receive what we need for our day to Love, Connect and Serve in His way, with His motive, with His purpose. Maybe it is to give you a scripture that you will share in a conversation that day, maybe it is through placing someone on your heart that is in need, for you to call, maybe it is through sending you in a different direction than you had planned in order for some circumstance to occur to connect or serve someone else. Maybe that direction is to give us something we need or someone to love us. We never know the opportunities God has planned unless we stop and Be still with Him.
Our prayer for all of our beautiful ladies this year is for us to adopt this scripture and make sitting still with God a part of our day, everyday.
