Peace

Luke 2:14
Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth, peace to those on whom his favor rests.

The first announcement made about the birth of Christ gives to us the promise of peace. Peace comes from the Greek word Eirene and means a state of untroubled, undisturbed, well-being. Such a state of peace is the object of divine promise and is brought about by God’s mercy granting deliverance and freedom from all the distresses that are experienced as a result of sin. (Hebrew -Greek Bible)

Untroubled, undisturbed, well-being. Can you imagine feeling like that? It is the choices we make, and the actions we take, out of our human desire and control that leads us to unsettled stress and worry.  But when Christ came into the world, He opened the door for peace to enter into our lives. He is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), the creator and distributor of all peace that is present.

He is the Way to inner peace, because wherever Jesus reigns, joy, love and hope are there. It is a peace that transcends any other perceived thought of peace we may have. Our definition is based on our limited human understanding and can only give us temporary relief. Christ’s peace is everlasting and given to us in such a way that it can prevail within us over any situation we may find ourselves.

So with just a couple of days before Christmas left, remember the source of peace. He was introduced to the world as a gift. Remember to receive Him over and over again as the most important gift and let the peace of Christ give you unshakable calm.

Merry Christmas,

LeAnn Jones
