Lent Day 21
Isaiah 48:17
This is what the Lord
says
Your Redeemer, the
Holy One of Israel
I am the Lord your God
Who teaches you what
is best for you
Who directs you in the
way you should go.
God, our Redeemer, the Holy one teaches us what is best for
us. He not only teaches us what is best
but also shows us the way we should go.
He does this by teaching us about Him, His truth, His way, His love,
grace and mercy. He gives us an
understanding of His character. The more
we understand the more our hearts are changed to follow Him. We learn He is pure truth and can tell us
nothing but truth. He is incapable of
leading us down a wrong path.
We grow up listening to mistruths from the world and believe
those in our hearts. This leads us to
live a life away from God. We distort His pure truth for personal gain,
selfishness, deceit, power or maybe from a lack of self esteem. We distort truth to try to get something we
want. We distort His truth to make our
lives fit into our most immediate needs.
But God knows what is best for us, He knows the direction we should go,
He not only knows our needs right now, He also knows our needs for the future. He created us to be in His image. Doesn’t it make sense He is the one that
knows how to get us there?
God is the source of all we need, all power, all
knowledge. No one teaches or advises
Him. (Isaiah 40:17), no one has too because He knows all.
Psalm 32:8 says
I will instruct you and teach you in the way
you should go,
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
He will instruct and teach you, meaning not only will He
give us a list of instructions, He will show us how to carry out and follow
those instructions. Have you ever tried
to follow a list of instructions only to end up confused and frustrated? When we continue to turn to God He will never
allow that to happen. He doesn’t just
tell us what to do and leave us, He walks with us step by step and shows us how
to do it. Another reason He leads us
in the way that we should go is because of His great love for us. He does not want to harm us. He wants to lead us to Him, because He is
what we need, at all times, in all situations
God’s truth looks different and feels different from the
world’s truth. As we spend time with
Him, we will gradually see the freedom in knowing His way and it will allow us
to turn from what we thought we knew to be right.
Grace and love,
LeAnn
