Lent Day 17
Numbers 23:19
God is not human, that
He should lie,
Not a human being,
that He should change His mind.
Does He speak and then
not act?
Does He promise and
not fulfill?
How much do
we trust in the nature of God? Do we
think of God like a human, one of us?
Someone who is prone to telling a little white lie or not keeping a
promise he has made? We all have
examples of those not telling the truth or not following through on a
promise. Do we allow these examples to
convince ourselves that God is the same?
Isaiah 55:9
says
As the heavens are higher than the earth so
are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
God’s
knowledge and wisdom are far greater than ours and to compare His capabilities
with our own only shortchanges the perception we have of our God. It diminishes His character of pure truth.
John 1:14
The Word became flesh and made His dwelling
among us. We have seen His glory, the
glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and
truth.
Truth is the
basis of the character of God. Jesus,
who was fully man and fully God, was the way, the truth and the life. He was full of grace and truth. We can trust when we go to Him, trust what
we receive from Him is pure truth, in wisdom, direction, comfort, discipline,
and love. We do not ever need to
question what comes from Him.
Titus 1:2
In the hope of eternal life, which God, who
does not lie, promised before the beginning of time.
God does not
lie. The foundation of our faith is
trust in God’s character. Because God is
truth, He is the source of all truth, and He cannot lie. God keeps His promises.
James 1:17
Every good and perfect gift comes from
above, coming down from the Father of Heavenly lights, who does not change like
shifting shadows.
God does not
change His mind or lie. He knows the path we are on, He knows the decisions we
are going to make, He knows our hearts and He also knows what is right and good
for us. He also knows the past, present and future. Knowing all that information, why would He
need to lie or change his promise. If
He speaks a promise it will happen. It
is a basic truth of God. A truth that
can change our lives if we believe and live our lives by it.
Is God
telling you something you are having a hard time believing? It is truth.
How would it change your circumstance if you believed the words of God
in your heart and lived your life by it?
Is there something you are struggling with? Go to God for the answer, for He cannot tell
a lie that may mislead you, but rather only tell the truth to lead you in the
right direction.
Grace and
Peace,
LeAnn
